Context

Borrowing requirement

The level of the central government’s borrowing requirement depends on the extent of any deficit in the State budget and on the need to refinance the maturing debt portfolio. The maturing debt portfolio includes both amortizations under loan conditions and any early buy-backs of loans.

The central government borrowing requirement by instruments for 2010 is shown in the following table (EUR million):
